y o u r s p a c e

Please write a short entry about what makes your neighborhood unique: restaurants, people, art, transportation, style. If you can, please include at least two photos.

My neighborhood: Union Square.
What makes my neighborhood (Union Square in Somerville, MA) unique is the diversity of cultures and public artwork that pops up all around the streets. People from Portugal, China, Brazil, Haiti, Bangladesh, India and many more countries call Union
Square their home. The Somerville Arts Council supports regular craft markets where local artists and craftspeople sell their goods. Sometimes, walking down the streets, a new guerilla art project will spring up in front of your eyes. Lately, it's been a study of light: with small light installations being installed on buildings and sidewalks around Union Square taking the form of abstract lines of reflective tape or LED lights shooting colors into the dark. We also have a colorful collection of switch boxes painted by local artists.
